Export of Georgian vegetables decreased by 38.1%, fruit exports increased by 9.6%

According to the National Statistics Service of Georgia, the volume of exports of vegetables for the first half amounted to 8.3 million dollars. According to preliminary data, 11,200 tons were shipped out. The share of vegetables in the total exports of Georgia for the same period was 0.52%. The main position among the exported vegetables was taken by tomatoes - 3.7 million dollars.

The volume of exports of vegetables in monetary terms in comparison with the data for the first half of last year decreased by 38.1%.

In January-June of last year, Georgia exported vegetables worth $ 13.4 million. The share of vegetables in the total volume of exports for the same period was 1.08%. The first positions of the list were potatoes - 5.2 million dollars and tomatoes - 3.7 million dollars.

Export of nuts and fruits for the first half of this year amounted to 37.7 million dollars. In total, according to preliminary data, 11 thousand tons were exported. The share of fruits in the total volume of Georgia's exports was 2.4%. The main items were nuts - 31.6 million dollars, citrus -1.9 million dollars, peaches - 1.1 million dollars and bananas - 1 million dollars.

Compared to the same period in 2017, fruit exports increased by 9.6%.
