JSC FGK introduces a new technology for transporting grain in containers

The Federal Freight Company has developed a new specialized innovative container for transporting bulk goods, primarily cereals. Tests of the new loading technology using a prototype container took place in October 2019 at the station Karbyshevo1 of the Omsk region of the West Siberian Railway with the participation of the TFTPO and the trader "Omsk Food".

According to the Director General of JSC FGK Viktor Voronovich, the local shortage of specialized rolling stock and the limitation of port capacities during the peak period of grain export stimulate the search for new solutions for the efficient transportation of crops not only for grain producers and traders, but also for transport companies.

“After certification of the container and approval of local loading specifications, together with the West Siberian Railway, we will offer shippers of the region a comprehensive transport service for grain transportation, including the provision of containers on the Company's universal platforms equipped with fitting stops,” the head of JSC FGK emphasized.

He also noted that the first batch of grain will go to Turkey through the land border crossing of Akhalkalaki in Georgia, since land export directions of grain are the most demanded today for this technology. It is planned that this transportation will be organized on an ongoing basis by the First Transport and Logistics Company in conjunction with JSC FGK. In the future, the new multimodal service will be used for transportation to China.

The design of the container provides all the necessary requirements for transportation by rail.

The container, unlike the standard ones, which are loaded from the front doorway, is equipped with top loading hatches, which makes it possible to load it at the elevator. Side unloading hatches and an inclined inner prism allow grain to be unloaded to regular grain receivers without the use of air pumps, including without removing the container from a car or railway platform.
