Kazakhstan lifts ban on import of Kyrgyz fruits and vegetables

A temporary ban on the import of a number of products from Kyrgyzstan was introduced after the detection of pests in them.

In the near future, Kyrgyzstan’s agricultural products, previously banned from being imported into the country due to the detection of pests, will reappear on the shelves of Kazakhstan’s shops and markets.

The ban was lifted this Wednesday following a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Zhenish Razakov and Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Zhenis Kasymbek, where implementation of the roadmap on phytosanitary control was discussed.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, in the persimmon, pomegranates and apples, a worm was found, causing fruit damage, and in the roots - a potato nematode, which affects up to 90 percent of the crop of this crop.
