Poland faced overproduction of apples
According to the agrarians of Poland, this year's harvest will not be sold.
This year the consumption of apples became an element of political propaganda, therefore, in order to express their disapproval of the political course of Vladimir Putin, the Poles actively fed on the fruits. In 2018 this trend came to naught, and production volumes not only did not decrease after Russia introduced a pro-embargo, but also increased.
"After the introduction of the Russian embargo, we began to produce more and more apples, not being able to sell them. We had internal propaganda of consumption. Because of the lower prices, the Poles started to eat more apples, so we were able to implement them. This year, no one will eat apples, despite Putin, "commented Karol Jakubowski of Inter-Trade.
Partial volumes are realized by supplying Polish apples to the Czech Republic. However, this decision is burdensome for importers because of a fairly good harvest in the domestic market. Among other things, a number of companies have difficulty in collecting their products due to a shortage of workers.
"The only opportunity to realize the entire collection of apples this year is the organization of deliveries to large processing enterprises at reduced prices. In this scenario, either very small farmers or very large producers will win. Midsize companies will face great difficulties. As a result, farmers can go on the street with a protest. We need changes. Now we do not have a backup plan for a large crop, so I think we just need to stop growing apples in such huge volumes. Of course, many have already planted new gardens, so the chances of cutting production in our country are very small, "the source added.
