Russia: In the Stavropol Territory plan to lay the first hectares of almonds

As part of the Golden Autumn 2019 exhibition in Moscow, a delegation of the Stavropol Territory, headed by the Head of the region Vladimir Vladimirov, presented a project for the production of almond seedlings. It is implemented in the country's largest fruit nursery "Gardens of Stavropol". According to experts, the almond market in Russia is about $ 100 million. Today he is fully occupied with products from Uzbekistan, Iran, Greece, Turkey. This was reported by the website of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

“In the region, the first experimental almond garden will appear in 2020. On 20 hectares, the investor plans to grow up to 500 thousand almond tree seedlings annually. They will be used, including for the creation of almond orchards in the eastern regions of Stavropol. And we will be able to see flowering almonds already in 2021, ”said Vladimir Sitnikov, Minister of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory.

Currently, 638 ha of walnut crops are cultivated in the region. Gross harvest of nuts in the region amounted to 2.4 thousand tons with an average yield of 38 kg / ha.
