Ukraine imported a record amount of cucumbers over the last five years

In 2018, Ukraine significantly increased the import of cucumbers, purchasing a record volume of these products on the foreign market for the last five seasons. This is reported by analysts of the Ukrainian fruit and vegetable Association (UPOA).

Last year, in particular, the import of cucumbers to the Ukrainian market, both in monetary and in-kind terms, increased by 40% compared to the results of 2017. Thus, Ukraine bought 12.6 thousand tons of cucumbers in foreign markets for a total amount of 8.9 million dollars. For comparison, in 2017, the import of cucumbers to Ukraine was recorded at the level of 9.2 thousand tons or 6.5 million dollars.

The main supplier of these products to the Ukrainian market has traditionally been Turkey, which accounted for almost 95% of all imports.

At the same time, upoa analysts emphasize that cucumber exports from Ukraine in 2018 also increased. Ukraine has sold 4.4 thousand tons of these products on foreign markets, which is 5% higher than in 2017. In monetary terms, the export of Ukrainian cucumbers grew more significantly-by 17%, amounting to 5.2 million dollars. Moreover, more than 60% of deliveries were made to Poland. Second place with a share of 17% for Belarus.
