Spanish table grapes gained access to the Chinese market

After two years of negotiations, China agreed to import table grapes from Spain. The deal was concluded during XI Jinping's visit to Spain.

The Association FEPEX cites data that the Spanish table grapes will be subject to a duty of 13% and VAT of 11%. Today, there is no detailed information about the date of the beginning of deliveries and the form of the export Protocol. Chinese retailers certify individual exporters after providing market access.

The new agreements open up opportunities for Spanish exporters to diversify the fruit market, while retailers recognize the complexity of the bureaucratic process.

In addition to China, the priority areas for Spanish table grapes are Germany, Norway and great Britain. The main production regions of Spain are Valencia and Murcia.

Last year, China imported 216,000 tons of table grapes worth 520 million euros. The volume of exports of table grapes in Spain for the same period amounted to 143 thousand tons.
